Frequently Asked Questions - Collaborate

You can express your opinion or ideas on a document, news or events items by making comments.

At the bottom of document, news or event item, click on:


 

 

  • Add a new comment: to respond, ask a question or make a comment through the comment facility.
  • Bookmark this: to insert the reference link to your selected document in your bookmarks page, which will then be listed in your profile menu.

Under your profile, click on the Create Content button and select the type of information you wish to share. Remember to specify whether you wish to publish your content publicly to all users or just within your working group!

 

To publish content in your group, access your group page and follow the same procedure as cited above. The only difference is that the banner above the main menu will appear as follows:

 

 

To create a News item you must add a title, input your news text and click SAVE at the bottom of the page or PREVIEW to see how your news will appear once saved.

You can add a teaser text and an image if you wish to highlight your news in your group page. Teaser text and your news image will then appear in the home page of your working group.

Input the relevant information about your document in the relevant fields (Title, small description, authors, published in, relevant thematic areas, etc…) and upload the document by clicking “choose file” at the bottom of the page. Once uploaded, click SAVE.

To create an event, give it a title, select the event’s date and time, give a small description of it and add the relevant information (location, thematic areas, etc.). When finished, click Save.

You can import data from an external source by inserting the URL of the external WMS server  or 
import your own data in CSV format and visualise it using our Map Tool in the DATA tab of the main menu.

You should fill all the mandatory fields, add a WMS description (abstract) and key words.

You MUST attach a file and provide information on the type of data it contains: coordinates (points) or countries (ISO codes).

You can then select the color of your layer and the font size of your data points.

 

When finished, click “process WMS”.

 

A Web Map Service (WMS) produces maps of georeferenced data. We define a "map" as a visual representation of geodata; a map is not the data itself. WMS is the dynamic production of spatially referenced data from geographic information.

You can share any file you want with Aquaknow users by entering their names in the “share with users” box and simply uploading or dragging the files into the drop zone

To create a link or a video just add the URL of the content you wish to share, give it a title and a small description and click SAVE.

 

Upload your image where requested - don’t forget to give it a title! Click SAVE.

Create your blog entry by writing a title and the text you wish to share with the community of users.

The entry will then appear on your own personal blog, which is accessible through your profile.

 

AquaKnow offers a user friendly web-based email service that you can access by clicking on “Messages” under your user name to exchange emails with other AquaKnow users, as with any other webmail service. Use the different tabs to send, write and consult your personal emails.

Pay attention in which space you are: general site or group space. Look at the banner on top of the page, if it is green as in the picture below then you are in a group space! When created, the post will belong  to this space and cannot be moved.
