Poster FOSS4G 2010:

Engineering Without Borders Spain (EWB) is a Non-Governmental
Organization (NGO)  that supports multidisciplinary community-driven
development projects worldwide. With the help of professionals,
teachers and students EWB works towards ensuring universal access to
basic services by strengthening people’s abilities and assuring social
changes always respecting local culture and traditions. Our areas of
cooperation include:  water and governance, urban services,
citizenship, energy supply and capacity building. This poster shows how
EWB is benefiting from the latest Open Source Geographical Information
Technologies, to better manage information derived from Water and
Sanitation Programmes in El Salvador and Tanzania. In this context, two
different Web applications have been developed with the objective of
facilitating map visualization, query information of a selected study
area and editing of cartographic data by technicians. Moreover, this
work has been fully undertaken by postgraduate students with the
supervision of volunteers from the NGO.
