The main objective of this Master's thesis was to identify the parcipation of developing countries in the virtual water trade, analysing the current situation, risks and future opportunities.
This document includes a description on the virtual water and hydrological footprint concepts as well as the methodology applied for their valorisation.There is also an attempt to identify the different aspects that influence the position of developing countries in the virtual water trade, using graphical analysis and lineal regressions.
Moreover this study pretends to improve the current international virtual water trade situtation by contributing with various recommendations for the developing countries.
